Lesley Busby and Carine Giachetti – two leading women in automotive design

Let’s introduce these two female designers in automotive – Lesley Busby is Colour Manager and Carine Giachetti is Colour, Material and Finish Designer. Both women work for Japanese car manufacturer Nissan in its car design studio in London, the birthplace of the first and second Nissan JUKE. Together they can look back on more than 30 years of experience in automotive design. Lesley and Carine have been responsible for the second generation of Nissan’s model JUKE. The first generation celebrated its launch in 2010 and caused waves in the automotive branch with its beach buggy look. However customers throughout Europe loved the rebellious attitude and fresh approach to the small car segment that Nissan made with the introduction of JUKE. Now the second generation has been launched and its designers faced the challenge of enhancing the JUKE’s unique design heritage and to elevate its fun personality. The new model integrates customers preferences as well as the latest trends.

“Customer expectation for impeccable design has grown over the years. With the development of new digital platforms, the world is really at people’s fingertips; they are more in-tune with design trends and information than ever before. It’s really exciting for us to grow with that expectation and rise to the challenge, particularly with the new JUKE. We can offer customers a new level of personalisation and quality to match. That’s incredibly rewarding for us.” Lesley Busby – Colour Manager Nissan

Lesley Busby and Carine Giachetti are responsible for design and colour innovations at Nissan and they drive on these developments. Such a great job done by these two strong female automotive designers. We are looking forward to their upcoming designs and innovations.

“Nissan Design Europe is right in the heart of London, so we have access to architecture – a juxtaposition of new and old – coupled with modern art and the latest in fashion. All of this sparked the inspiration behind redefining the new JUKE’s appearance. This helped us hone colour options and determine what will remain in vogue for years to come.” Carine Giachetti – Colour, Material and Finish Designer Nissan
