Precept – the car that envisions Polestar's future

With the concept car Precept, Polestar envisions its future showcasing the brand’s three key areas: sustainability, digital technology and design.

The design is minimalistic and likewise athletic. It’s a flat four-door coupé with a 3.1-metre wheelbase, flush-fitted door openers and a broad front. The grille is replaced by the Polestar SmartZone now housing technology for safety sensors and driver assistance functions. Behind a transparent panel for intelligent hardware are two radar sensors and a high-resolution camera.

Insides, the Precept focuses on sustainable materials that make less plastic necessary. Bcomp’s flax-based composites for interior panels and seatbacks offer significant improvements over conventional materials, including up to 50% saving in weight and up to 80% reduction of plastic waste. Seat surfaces are made from recycled PET bottles, bolsters and headrests from recycled cork vinyl, whereas carpets are made from reclaimed fishing nets.

With the Precept Polestar is showcasing how they are heading towards a sustainable future of mobility and we are excited to see the next steps.

“People ask me all the time, what is the future of Polestar? and of course we are not showing our future models just yet. But Precept shows you where we will be heading – our design direction, our ambitions about sustainability and the great digital user experience we will bring with those future cars. Precept showcases our future, not as a fancy dream or something out of a sci-fi movie. This is our reality, to come.” – Thomas Ingenlath, CEO Polestar
