The future of air cargo – Pyka's autonomous electric Pelican Cargo

The world's largest autonomous electric cargo airplane, Pelican Cargo, is set to revolutionise the air cargo industry. Developed by Pyka, a California-based aviation startup, this innovative aircraft promises to deliver faster, more efficient, and eco-friendly cargo transportation. Let's take a closer look at what makes Pelican Cargo so unique and how it's changing the game for the industry.

The Pelican Cargo, as it stands now, is the largest zero-emission cargo plane in existence and the first of its kind that has been created as an autonomous vehicle. It can travel up to two hundred miles with a payload of four hundred pounds, making it perfect for express logistics networks, connecting remote rural areas, and ensuring fast access to necessary goods and supplies in times of need. Currently testing is still underway at Pyka's facility in Northern California. The first commercial operation is projected to start sometime during the latter part of 2023.

“Pelican Cargo will have a significant positive impact on people's lives. We designed this plane to eliminate C02 emissions from the logistics chain, while offering a significant speed advantage over ground transportation and operating costs at a fraction of conventional air transportation.” – Michael Norcia, CEO and Co-founder of Pyka

The development of Pelican Cargo is part of Pyka's larger vision to transform the cargo transportation industry using electric and autonomous technologies. The company aims to provide a more sustainable and efficient way to transport goods to remote locations, such as rural communities, islands, and disaster zones. The Pelican Cargo represents a significant advancement in the development of electric and autonomous cargo aircraft, with the potential to revolutionise the way goods are transported around the world.
