Lynk & Co – a new approach to ownership and mobility

Is it a car, a club or a community? It’s all.
Founded in 2016, Lynk & Co is a brand of the Chinese car manufacturer Geely, which also owns Volvo and Polestar. End of 2020 the brand hit the European market with its car 01 and the opening of its first club – how they call it, in Amsterdam. Lynk & Co introduces a new approach to ownership and mobility and targets at a young and modern generation wanting to have maximum flexibility and freedom. The brand definitely challenges the car industry conventions.

You don’t want to own a car? No problem with Lynk & Co. With a month-to-month membership, you get the car 01 including insurance and maintenance for a price of 500 €. Only petrol and electricity have to be covered by you. The good thing is, you can lower the costs of 500 € by sharing it with others. With a digital key, this feature will be possible.

If you are interested in buying the Lynk & Co 01, of course you are welcome to do so. But the focus of the brand is on membership. And this means you have access to exclusive events, a car sharing platform and the Lynk & Co community. What else they also offer if you do not need a car, is a free membership. You only pay when you borrow a car while still having access to all the advantages of the Lynk & Co community.

With the 01, Lynk & Co makes its European debut being launched as a hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). What sets the 01 apart from other brands is, that full equipment comes as standard. So customers can only choose between a HEV or PHEV, the colour black or blue but all the other equipment is said to be complete – from the navigation system to various driving assistants and connectivity features. Rather than using leather, the interior of the 01 is made of ECONYL, a material made of recycled fishing nets.

Becoming a member of Lynk & Co is pretty easy. You can sign up online or in one of their clubs. The first clubs have been opened in Amsterdam and Gothenburg but more are to come. The third one is planned for Berlin this year and we can’t wait to experience it.

Nothing in their clubs reminds of the classic car dealership. If you wouldn’t see the car, you would think of an interior/fashion store. The Lynk & Co clubs are there to experience the community, a place to host events, showcase local partners and to connect with members.

The clubs have a lot to offer. They work as a living room, community gathering place and even as a co-working space. Everything in there was chosen eco-friendly and ethically sourced – from the products sold to the furnishings. Basically everything you see in the club is for sale.

More locations will be announced soon as well as a pop-up tour around Europe. Great approach and concept – we can't wait to enter the world of Lynk & Co here in Berlin.
