Porsche Mission X – concept study of an electric hypercar

At Porsche, concept cars have always laid the foundation for future models. This time is no different with their newest car concept: Mission X. This unique hypercar is set apart by its Le Mans-style doors that open forward and a powerful, efficient electric powertrain.

The two-seater Mission X has made its debut on June 8th 2023 – coincidentally the same day that Porsche celebrates 75 years of sports cars since the first 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster received its driving permit in 1948, marking the start of the automobile brand.

The Porsche Mission X is the ultimate hypercar, blending performance and luxury in a refined manner. Its sculpted form, low height, and elegant Rocket Metallic finish create an iconic, aerodynamic look. The lightweight glass dome roof is trimmed with carbon-fiber weaves, while Le Mans-style doors open upwards for a stunning entrance. The iconic Porsche four-point graphic headlights and floating rear light contribute to the car's sophisticated light display. The updated Porsche crest adds to its modern aesthetics and features a three-dimensional honeycomb structure, brushed precious metal, and minimal gold accents.

At around 4.5 metres long and two metres wide, the Mission X concept car is relatively small compared to other hypercars. Its wheelbase of 2.73m is quite similar to that of a Carrera GT or 918 Spyder. To gain an aerodynamic advantage, this vehicle has tires of different sizes; 20 inches in the front and 21 inches at the back.

The driver-centric approach of the Mission X is reflected in its asymmetrical interior design and color scheme. The cockpit features two contrasting seats – Kalahari Grey for the driver and Andalusia Brown for the passenger – both flawlessly integrated with the center console and dashboard. From CFRP seat shells to six-point seatbelts, the car brims with motorsport innovation. It comes equipped with an open-top steering wheel furnished with mode switches and shift paddles, multiple cameras, and even a stopwatch module on the passenger side instrument panel. This Porsche design special is built for racetrack and rally use, displaying vital data and lap times in seamless analogue and digital displays.
