Premium design meets clean sailing with the Edorado 8S

In 2021, the Dutch zero-emission powerboat brand Edorado announced its new Edorado 8S, a fully electric model with pioneering clean technology, bringing a whole new perspective on sustainable luxury. Unlike traditional powerboats, which pollute the air and water – and make a whole lot of noise – the Edorado 8S combines design with power and speed, minus the oil, emissions or noise.

One of the main objectives behind this exciting new model was to disrupt the powerboat market with some serious innovation – and the 8S did just that, thanks to its combination of retractable hydrofoils and electric drive-train. 

The technology behind the 8S is impressive, first with the aforementioned hydrofoil system which is also equipped with an Automatic Control System that makes constant adjustments to the safety and stability of the foils, but also with its ‘twin drive’ system which offers unparalleled control and smooth navigation. 

Design is also a strong aspect of the Edorado 8S, fusing innovation with a timeless, classic look. The lead designer on the project, Ivo van Hulten, worked for years in the German automotive industry and used that savoir-faire to create powerful lines and elegant proportions. The extended bow and wraparound screen are particularly appealing design features. 

“I wanted to capture that innovation, but also connect it with something timeless, so that it’s not just futuristic but also has the feeling of a really classic boat. The ‘Launch Edition’ of the Eldorado 8S is exclusively available for select buyers, while pre-orders of the standard Eldorado 8S model can be made globally. The Eldorado 8S is priced at €350.000.
