The new Volvo XC90 – progressive, elegant and sustainable

Facelifting für den Volvo XC90

Beginning of this year Volvo presented the new version of its best-selling SUV flagship – the XC90. With the introduction of a new, efficient powertrain, the company is taking an important step in its electrification strategy. The new XC90 has an advanced system for braking energy recovery, which is connected to the existing combustion engines to form an integrated electrified drive. The kinetic energy released during braking is recovered using a brake-by-wire system and converted into electrical energy. The new mild hybrids with a B emblem offer  fuel savings and emission reductions of up to 15 percent under everyday conditions. The new “B” engines in the Volvo XC90 are an addition to the existing T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid drive.

As is usual, the Volvo XC90 is elegant and stylish - from the outside as well as from the inside. The exterior comes with new wheels and exterior colors as well as with a modern, subtly upgraded grille. New materials are used in the interior to offer the customer an additional option for personalising the car. The new Volvo XC90 is available as a five- and seven-seater and thus adapts ideally to the different wishes and lifestyles of the customers. The XC90 has also been optimised in the area of security. Steering support is now available for both the City Safety emergency braking system and the blind spot monitoring (BLIS). The City Safety System is currently unique on the market. The automatic emergency braking system recognises pedestrians, cyclists and large wild animals and thus protects against collisions. The company has set itself the goal that from 2020 no one should be killed in an accident in a Volvo. To achieve the goal, Volvo is continuously developing its safety systems.

By integrating additional assistance systems such as the Oncoming Lane Mitigation, which reduces the risk of accidents with approaching cars and the cross traffic alert with extended emergency braking function, make the Volvo XC90 one of the safest car.
